Posting #234 – Scam Looking for Money from RSO’s Promising to Remove Them From the National Registry!

Date:  06/07/2010

Virginia Supporters,

In the late afternoon of June 6 we received a phone call from Virginia State Police Sergeant Holland.

He wanted to alert us to a scam letter that is being mailed to RSO’s here in Virginia.

The letter head states it’s from a law firm in Rego Park N.Y and it states that the Second Chance Act allows ex-offenders to be removed from the National Sex Offender Registry. It asks for a money order no checks in the amount of $90 to $250 to be mailed to a K. Gould, Director of Accounting for the law firm in Rego Park N.Y.

If you have received this letter, throw it out.

If you have in fact sent them money, the N.Y. Attorney General wants to know about it.
Contact VSP Sgt. Holland at Robby.Holland@vsp.virginia.gov  and he will give you the contact information for the N.Y. A.G.
