Posting #69 – Sara’s Story

RSOL of Virginia,

I was very pleased to receive your letter.

When my husband was 19 years old he had sexual relations with a 14 year old. He was charged with carnal knowledge of a minor because it was proved to be consensual. I know and am good friends with her now and she has told me that if she could do anything to help him that she would.

When he was charged he was put on the registry for 10 years from the time he was released from prison. He got out when he was 21 years old and will be 31 this year. Last year he was told that he was upgraded to a violent offender and his 10 years became lifetime.

We have three beautiful kids and he wants to participate in their educational activities but can’t because of this. He was so looking forward to getting off of the list too.

We have been harassed in the past and I worry about the affects on out children. Is there anything that can be done?

Please write back, you are the most hope we have had for years.

Thanks again.
Sara
